London - The Urban Explorer

So having left Clare at the Isle of Wight ferry, I boarded a train and soon found myself pulling in towards the now familiar skyline of London.

A few tube stops later and a warm welcome awaited me...

Had a good time with the guys, mostly playing at the park and checking out the visiting funfair. We got a proper soaking in the afternoon where a heavy shower broke loose, followed by thunder and lightning! It's hard to run for cover with a pushchair and two little nuggets hanging off you!
Without Chris and The Nipper, I was solo in the evening, which happened to be the opening night of 'Brockley Max' - an Art and Music Festival. Luckily, Grandad had left his trilby so I could mingle with the arty locals feeling appropriately attired.

Live music in the streets and fresh paint on the buildings...

And would you believe it, they were serving beer from the Sierra Nevada (admittedly, it was the USA version, rather than Spain). Given my recent expedition, I thought I ought to give it a try while watching the bands.

I checked out of Chez Mee early on Saturday and started off a long day, with a Nespresso sampling session near Picadilly.

There was an impressive Big Ben in the Lego store...

Little did I know that I'd be over at the real one later that afternoon.

I just had time to visit my favourite London store - Stamford's Map Shop. A great place for trip research, planning, inspirations and of course some map purchases. Even the floor has maps on it!

Enjoyed some fine dining at the Southbank with Joe and his family while catching up on each others news. After dessert, Joe produced some 'magic' tickets for the London Eye, that had some sort of VIP status that allowed us to breeze past the ques outside and fast tracked our way onto the Eye! Bonus!

It was the perfect day for getting the full city view.

London looked like a little toy town from up high.

Time for me was running short after the ride, so I left the guys back on the ground and set off in search of Euston, stopping briefly to appreciate Big Ben and grounds.

With five minutes to spare, I just had time to make the now traditional train snack stop before collapsing into a seat on the train.

Arriving at Bangor, my last challenge was to find a way back to The Cottage as I'd not got a car at the station. After having no luck asking a few fellow passengers for an onward lift, I went over to the deserted taxi rank. As I stood there contemplating my next move, a friend from Bethesda pulled up! Coincidence? I gratefully accepted a lift back to the village, then enjoyed the last bit of walk over the river back home just in time to greet Matt who was passing by on his way to Cornwall!
