It's really turning out to be quite a sociable summer trip. A took the drive up and over the Forclaz Col and down the switchbacks to visit a friend in Switzerland today. We used to work together, when we lived here around 2004. Caroline now lives down in the Rhone Valley, so I didn't go up to Villars, but we still got the skyline view from her house. And, just a few minutes bike ride away was a delightful lake where we went swimming to cool off in the afternoon heat.
I only popped in for lunch, but several coffees, a swim, an evening BBQ and a whole lot of nattering and reminiscing later, I eventually made the drive back to Chamonix in time to meet Nick who was arriving on the night bus. It was really nice to catch up and meet her family, in a relaxed way, having not seen each other in so many years now.
