New hills for biking

I'm rather getting used to having 'Sundays' as a day of rest. Well, obviously, I mean a day off work, rather than an actual day of resting. We'd made a pact yesterday to leave the laptops logged off to ensure a bit of digital downtime for our eyes and brains. We took our time getting up and as the sun was filling the garden and breakfast outside in the warmth.
Moring into the early afternoon was spent slowly pottering around the garden, interspersed by two lovely visits by friends who were either hiking or biking past. It was really nice to exchange a bit of news with each other face to face - even if it was over the garden wall!

As it began to cloud over, we set off on a ride to try a few new lanes, which although very close by, we'd never had the occasion to explore along. On was only just wide enough for a car and took us past more Bluebell meadows. Upon the tops, we did a steep climb past a big chapel, before freewheeling the last few kilometers back home. There is still plenty of blossom about to burst in the hedgerows.

And some impressive garden hedges running wild at the moment! It was a 16km loop, then I did an extra 4km by carrying on down to the village to buy some milk. We both felt suitable exercised.

Back at the ranch, our local wasp was also still persistently trying to stake a claim on the ownership of the bike shed.
