Down by the Sea

After a long day of online chat about the values of Outdoor Education at a 'virtual open day' followed by an afternoon of teaching it via the internet, we closed up the office and got out the bikes!

From The Cottage, it's more or less downhill all the way to the seaside. The sky was super blue, but the wind and temperatures were really cold still. I had a down jacket and gloves on to stave off the wind chill as we sped along through the narrow back roads. After a short detour, to experience a slightly new route, we arrived at the deserted coastline.

Arctic air was blowing across the bay, so we found a sunshine facing bank to get down behind and soaked up the heat in the lee of the wind. The regulation in Wales changed today and we're now 'officially' allowed to make brief stops like this while out 'exercising'. We made the most of the allowance and chatted away about our days while watching the oystercatchers and shell ducks.

Even with the direct sunlight, we began to chill down. Some uphill peddling to get us home was the perfect remedy!
