Storm Ciara

All Outdoor Education activities were shelved today as we let storm Ciara pass through. Leaving home was still an adventure as the whole of the Ogwen Valley had turned into a lake over night. We had 56mm of rain in the night. Up the road at Capel Curig, they had 123mm in 24hrs!

The Menai Straits were incredible to watch as we drove past, with spray whipping up into the air and angry waves breaking in all directions. Behind the Orme, in the shelter of the wind, we did discover some good looking waves and made a note to come back soon.

A very wet day indeed, but put to good use doing maintenance in our kit stores. It felt like the roof might lift off a few times and we sprung various leaks, but overall, seem to have survived...
