Crib Goch Scrambling

With more snow forecast and less than ideal conditions on the hill, our aim of crossing Crib Goch today was looking a little optimistic at first. Especially as we weren't setting out until 14:00. We set off with plenty of options and Plan B's in mind, but amazingly, things looked like they might just hold off for us if we moved quickly.

After a bit of debate, we decided to commit to the crossing and were soon embroiled in the task of moving safely and carefully across the famous ridge scramble. Clouds were sticking to the north side, but on the south, we still had some views.

Near the end of the ridge, as my group began to tire, the cloud level dropped and took away the visibility, which added to the atmosphere and overall drama somewhat, but when we reached the fingerstone, we could see our way. At this point it was getting late, so we decided to not take in the summit of Snowdon, but instead, return to Pen y Pass, via the PyG track.

We split the group on the way down, with half racing us back to the bus via the miners 'tourist' track. They won - and earned their reward of burgers on the way home!
