Just back from a two day expedition to the Llangollen area with some young students.
I met the team in the evening, after their days hike, at the Hostel in the town, just a short walk from the river.
Happily, I made it in time to join in on their dinner from the chippy!
Today, we've been chug, chug, chugging along the Grand Union Canal, over the Aquaduct and through some exciting tunnels.
The engineering is staggering, given that it was all built towards the end of the 1700s.
After nipping into England, we stopped briefly to make some sarnies, before making the return journey.
I was on steering duties for most of the day, but was allowed 'down below' for the odd cuppa to keep me going! Good times, a fun team and made it back ontime and before the rain. The only slight drama being when we missed the 'turn around point' where the canal was wide enough to do a three point turn. This resulted in a slight sweat as I had to reverse the barge for about 100m! Not easy! Ha Ha!
