Coastal Climbing at Rhoscolyn

A last minute decision to head over to the island to go rock climbing was well rewarded with blue skies, warm sun and plenty of colour on the coastal path.

We climbed the classic corner climb as the seas were calm and the tide low, which gave a nice mellow day, traversing in on good rock with nice big hand holds.

Clare led the corner pitch.

Through the finishing 'hole', which I struggled later to fit through!

It felt good to be getting back to being used to hanging off cliffs, after what's seemed like quite a while out of a harness.

Back on the cliff top, we had a very nice picnic in the sun.

Afterwards, we noticed a climb in the guidebook called 'After the Picnic'! It seemed appropriate to get stuck in!

It traversed across some incredibly steep ground, but via a series of bold holds. As long as you didn't look down too much, it was actually a very enjoyable journey.

Brilliant to be climbing together, making plans and being in the sun. Although it was tempting to stay later, we were back home just after 5pm for a whirlwind evening of organisation ready for another run of expeditions and travels!
