A Cottage Weekend

With no fixed plans and no urgency to go anywhere, we had a lovely weekend at The Cottage, catching up with each other, resting from what seems like weeks 'on the go' and recharging ready for a pretty jam packed May. On Saturday, we didn't even leave the grounds until the evening, where we went to watch a gig in Bangor, which led into to chance meeting with friends in the pub. During the day, we received our latest photobook from the printers and got to re-cap, reminisce and re-live some of the highs, lows and laughs from the Hungary/Serbia bike expedition that we rode over Easter. It's always amazing to see how the 'hard times' turn into the funniest stories and most laughed at tales after a few weeks. We sure had a good laugh about riding through the snowstorm blizzard! What an experience!....

With it being a bank holiday (and after another late night thanks to the Bangor party scene!), we were happy to continue the vibe of taking it easy on Sunday. Time rolled by pretty quick as I got stuck into some Cottage maintance and started a new woodwork project. Our 'summer lounge' needs a new little table (it's currently a cardboard box!), so I've set to work on some nice wood that Dad had sourced me from the Aladdin's cave of timber.

My shoulder is still sore from surfing last week. Thankfully, there was no surf, but a gentle trip to the beach on bank holiday Monday gave us some good blue sky time as we lay out on the blanket making plans and listening to the birds. In the evening we joined some friends who had hired a mobile sauna! After a good sweat, we all dashed down to the sea and I had my second and third wetsuit-less swim of the year! (this time in a much more respectable pair of swim shorts!). Great fun, although the water felt much colder on Anglesey!

Finished the long weekend off by all going for dinner together to celebrate Jane's birthday after the sauna experience. Another late night! Fun times!
