Rock Climbing Training - Llanberis

It's been an absolute stunner and perfect conditions for running a day of rock climbing training. Along with the paddle boarding earlier in the week, this is part of our 'back to work' induction/refresher after our enforced absence in the hills with groups. There has been a lot of research published recently about 'skill fade' due to the lockdowns etc, so I was keen that we all get together and check that we all still know what to do, before being in charge of students again by ourselves.

It felt quite strange, but very nice indeed, being with a small group of real people again, rather than catching up online!

And of course the good weather helped to lift the spirits as we worked though how to adapt old techniques to the new policies and restrictions.

After setting up group climbing and abseil situations, we went up to the Llanberis Pass to look at more advanced personal climbing skills.

It's been well over a year since I've climbed in the Pass and it felt great to be back!

Once the 'work day' finished, Clare hiked up to meet us at Carreg Wastad and we stayed on for an extra climb in the evening sunshine.

As shadows crept up the valley, we walked back down to the road as our crag was left glowing in the sunshine...
