Strawberries and Stonecrop

Up in amongst the slates quarries above The Cottage, the ground is becoming carpeted in colour as the Stonecrop comes into bloom. It's a hardly little flower that can seemingly take root on a bare slab of slate.

If you know where to look, there is also a good crop of wild strawberries on the way. Some heavy rain last night has given them the hydration they need to com into bloom.

Think we need to give them a few more days, but we got a few harvested. Not quite up to the bumper crops that are being hauled in daily at Fort Martin, but a nice addition to breakfasts this week.
