Hoorn to Medemblik - Dutch Cycle Touring

Having been pretty tired when we arrived, we had a roll around Hoorn before leaving this morning. It’s a beautiful place. Could easily have got established in one of the cafes in the main square, but we had places to go see!

We were soon out by the sea again, with the calm waters of the Zuiderzee on our right and fields and windmills on our left...

After a mid-morning snack on the trail, by the sea, found the perfect place for a sit down in the town of Enkhuizen. We lost our tack for a bit and found ourselves at this lovely little harbour.

We took a seat and soaked up the morning...

The afternoon got a bit busier on the trail, but we managed to find a bench where we could take a rest and make some lunch by the water.

Then later on we hit gold - a deserted beach with swimming area. We just had to get in. Although we did have to walk almost out to the boats until it became deep enough to swim in!

Finally at around 16:30 we made it to Medemblik.

We are staying in a B&B opposite this windmill.

We’re on the top floor of a really old house. The stairs are almost a ladder. Had a nice shower before heading into town for a look around.

Found a Greeb in the harbour too.

Total Ride:
51.3km
