Bid our farewells to the Mt Blanc view from the terrace this morning, bought our last pain au chocolates and hit the road.
By evening, we were on the train through the tunnel and more than a few hours later, arrived at Fort Martin (note to self - best to stop just north of Dover and rest). However, despite the late arrival, the welcome was warm and the bed very comfy after 13 hours in the car!
Continued north the next day through some terrific downpours and relentless road works and traffic jams.
Dazed and slightly delirious, we arrived back at The Cottage to a fine sight. It had been an exhausting journey. The 'summer residents' at The Cottage had left it looking good and with drinks stocked in the fridge too. It's strange to be back here mid-summer, but sure is a nice place for two weary travellers to rest!
