Exhilaratingly strong winds today across North Wales and particularly on Anglesey. Our day trip to Holy Island started off at the church of St Cybi, which was all rather ornate in places where it wasn't exposed to the erosional effects of the weather.
The subsequent hike up Holyhead Mountain started off nice and sheltered, but on the summit, we could barely stand! The wind against tide out to sea was pushing up enormous waves, the spray of which came right up the cliffs and soaked us in a momentary rainbow.
It all looks very benign in this summit photo, but we had to crawl to the trig point and hang onto it to prevent ourselves from being blown away.
The wind was exhausting, so we were glad to be out of the worst of it as we headed back down to the breakwater. Everyone left with a good story to tell about what it feels like to be up against a 60mph wind!
