Heading South under strange skies

On the road again! Heading South this time to road trip around the 'West Country' for a bit. Having loaded up the van with the bare essentials for such a voyage - (surfing and climbing kit), we set off under blue skies. Up high though, some weird things were happening with the clouds..

I always like to notice the different cloud types and formations, and for those who have the eye for such things, today was a real show! Driving through the Ogwen valley, the layer of cloud briefly blanketed out the sky...

But near Capel Curig, the blue returned -except for UFO-like blobs on the mountain tops.

The A5 is always a slow road, but today it was at least faster than the motorway, where we averaged a speed of 22mph for a disappointing number of hours! At least by the time we passed Bristol, we were going so slow that we had time to marvel at the apocalyptic skies as we crawled along the 'fast lane' at walking speed! Needless to say 'the other side' of the motorway was clear of traffic!!

Anyway, despite the rising sense of impending doom forecast in the skies, we eventually made it to Taunton - our destination for the night, and after taking over seven hours to get there, this pub seemed an appropriate land mark!
