Climbing at Malsaire

After yesterdays excursions along the high peaks, a shorter walk-in was voted for. Initially, we had thought of getting an early start on one of the sunny multi-pitch crags, but soon after hearing the alarm clock, a unanimous decision was made to go back to sleep and set out later to a shady crag! As such, a leisurely morning passed delightfully by before we set out to yet another new crag.

On the edge of nearby Mont Saxonnex is a small, shaded single pitch crag that can be reached on foot in a matter of minutes. The woodland and trees made for a really tranquil setting and provided a cool base for the climbs.

At 5pm, we made our way out of the forest and back across the meadow to the car.

In the village, we stopped at the shop and got an ice cream.

The tourist info office had a sun lounger outside which made for a perfect viewing/ice cream eating point. Beyond the ornate top of the village church were the peaks that I climbed yesterday! A fine and mellow way to end a great afternoon on the rock.
