Slate Climbing in the Sun

Made an early start to get to the beach for a morning surf. Amazing cloud inversion crossing Britannia Bridge above a sea of cloud and milky water conditions, but sadly hardly any surf! Still, it was a wonderful time to be bobbing about in the sea. After calling back to The Cottage to grab a shower and Clare, we went climbing in the Slate Quarry after a delightful lunch.

Conditions were superb. It was still cold enough to see your breath in the shade, but picking the sunny routes meant climbing on warm rock.

We climbed our usual 'pre-season' warm up routes and generally just enjoyed the winter sun vibe. It felt good to be moving on the rock again, having not been on our traditional Christmas climbing trip.

As the sun neared the horizon, we moved up a level to the Serengeti Area.

The top slab had moved into the shade and was cooling down quickly.

But as I reached the top, I pulled into a final blast of sunshine. Wonderful views of Snowdon too.
