New Year Surfing

After a fun New Years Eve celebration at The Cottage, which finished with a spectacular fireworks display from a nearby garden, we ventured over to the coast. It was a slightly surreal start to the year, having been skiing down alpine mountains only a few days ago, to now finding ourselves stood on a warm blustery beach.

The wind was strong enough for us to need to find a sheltered bay to surf in and the waves were big. It was all a bit hectic getting in through the swell, chop and white water, but both of us managed to ride some big waves all the way back up the beach, which out getting swept away to Ireland, which did look like a possibility for one concerning moment!

It was two excitable and happy surfers that left the beach with their New Year waves collected.

So happy in fact, that a spur of the moment holiday spirit, made us decide to cheer in the New Year with a hot chocolate on the way home. The journey was then delayed further by a lovely visit to see friends in Llanberis for some festive story swapping from each of our respective travels of the past few weeks.

A fine start to 2022..... Long may it continue!
