On the Lleyn Peninsular

While the main mountains of Snowdonia are feeling the wrath of winter's last gasp, we've decided to stay put at the coast, where the temperatures are much barmier for a rest day of sorts.

From our pad, it's only a few minutes walk down to Nefyn beach, so after a bit of laptop work, we strolled down to check out the view of the sea, which turned into the first of many coastal explorations of the day.

Making use of our well placed apartment, we returned for a warming lunch before venturing back out - this time in the van to Aberdaron near the tip of the peninsular. We'd had cycled here a few years ago on a bike tour and had arrived to find the town and beach packed with people. Today, there was barely a soul around.

Did a bit of stone skimming and round pebble hunting on our way to the end of the beach.

At the far end, the sun broke through for a while as we lay out on the rocks. Resisted the urge (just) to have a nap, so must be making progress in the health department!

On the cycle tour, we had eaten ice creams on a bench by the church as the streets of the village were so busy. This time, with a coffee and cake (ice cream shop was closed!), we returned to the bench, which was sheltered from the breeze and soaked up some glorious sunshine. It's a very well located church!

Porth Or, (or Whistling Sands as it's also known), was our last port of call on the day's tour, which was enjoyed in the evening sunshine.

And shared with only a couple of other walkers.

We were very tempted to get the paddleboard out of the van and if the car park had been closer to the beach, maybe I would have, as the water looked so inviting.

We left just before sunset, happy to have made the most of the 'warmer' weather and return to the luxury of the pad.
