Searching for Surf

The mountains have been a very wet place over the last couple of days and while the rain was pouring down at The Cottage, I had little inclination to load up any kayaking kit and get on a river. In a bid to see a new view and the chance of some blue skies, we took the surfboards for a drive up to the North Coast of Anglesey. The boast on the sign at the entrance to the village of Cemeas, is that it's the most Northerly village in Wales. Driving away from The Cottage, it was hard to imagine that the sun might actually be shining nearby, but sure enough, we arrived at high tide to find some brightness above us.

With no waves to surf in the bay, we hiked along the coastal path to another potential spot that we'd identified on the map. It was lovely and sheltered, but without enough swell. The views were great (as long as you didn't linger too long looking at the Nuclear Power Plant next door!).

Back at the van, we found a great little sheltered spot for making a brew. We had toyed with the idea of snorkelling, but the water was looking a bit too churned up and neither of us really fancied getting in anyway. We were quite happy to sit in the sun with a hot drink and enjoy the new view. Holiday style...
