Climbing at Castle Inn Quarry

It was raining during the morning and raining again by late afternoon, but in the time between, we managed to climb a couple of route on dry rock! Good old Castle Inn Quarry dried off quickly in the breeze and fleeting sunshine. The main wall was still out of bounds and fenced off due to a rockfall over the summer, but there was still plenty for us to do on the side walls.

It was good to be back up there after a prolonged lockdown absence and the views were as good as ever. We walked over from the northeast car park to get the most of the views, which added to the day, having spent the morning in the bouldering wall. It was also my first time in the bouldering wall in about seven months, so really made sure we had a proper warm-up before we went in. My arms felt out of practice, but my body still knew how to move efficiently. We also put up a couple of new routes too as the group of students I was working with were really keen.
