Although somewhat tiring last night, I usually enjoy arriving somewhere new after dark. The reason being that in the morning, you wake up to a totally new view. The apartment we are staying is super old (the kind of place where if you put the kettle on and try and use any other electrical device at the same time, the power trips out), but it's major selling feature is the sunny rooftop balcony. We made the most of it by enjoying a slow breakfast and coffee in the warmth of the morning air.
And for planning a day trip from...
After a much needed slow start after yesterdays drama in the gorge, we set off through the tiny street. We didn't dare last night, but this is our street and yes, you can drive down it!
Our first port of call was up in the 'Old Town', where the views were fabulous - helped by some great weather.
I guess it's called the old town for it's old buildings, but we couldn't help laughing when we passed a DVD rental store - called VideoFutura!
Descending many steps from the Old Town, we got to see the classic view of the town, it's cliffs and the famous bridge.
And in the distance, seemingly nothing but rolling hills and olive groves.
It was the perfect place for a gentle stroll and there are plenty of impressive buildings to look at via a maze of alleyways.
As our feet began to tire, we stopped for a drink at a cafe that was cut into the cliffs by the bridge. Under the dappled shade of an orange tree, we had a refreshing break while enjoying the views through the gorge.
And then later in the new side of town, a Christmas ice cream to keep cool!
By the time we'd completed our site-seeing and arrived back at the pad, the sun was down and the sky turned a lovely pink colour. The longer daylight hours are one of the benefits of being this far south. It's light until after 7pm.
