Seaside Sightseeing - a Cultural Exchange

What a peculiar weekend! It's always nice to try new things and see new places - especially so close to home. Rather randomly, I'd been asked to host some Asian students who have been visiting for the weekend. They weren't really the 'Outdoor Types' but were keen to see a bit of the local area. After some google based researching and discussing with the lads, we spent the weekend checking out the sights (and ice creams) of Llandudno! It turned out to be a fun weekend; if a little different from my usual weekend habit!

After a wet start, things brightened up enough to go for a bike ride along the promenade to the Little Orme, where we stopped to have a look at the new lifeboat station.

The greatest delights came when at the other end of the Prom, nearer town, where we discovered Llandudno Pier (where I had never actually been!). The neon lights, candy floss and other such tack soon sucked us in and we got stuck into some car racing as another shower passed over.

Everyone was keen to win their fortunes on the two pence machine, but sadly (predictably?) all we walked away with were just a few sweets. Still, we had good fun trying.

For me, the views were the best bit. You get a real change of perspective from the end of a pier.

The lads introduced me to Cantonese Food on Saturday night as part of our informal 'Cultural Exchange' which was rather delicious. Then Sunday saw us over at Surf Snowdonia, where we enjoyed watching the surfers on the man-made wave after visiting the Welsh food centre in the Conwy Valley. It's been a different few day - maybe I should start up a North Wales tours programme... email me for bookings!
