Moel Winion (580m) Mountain Circuit

You can see Moel Winion (580m) from The Cottage, so it was nice to be working so close to home today. Heading up from Bryn Hall made for a great circuit, with three nice little peaks to bag along the way.

It was windy all day, which made things feel quite cold (cold enough to have three jackets on at lunch!), but the rain held off until after we were down.

I was working with a group of young students, who were super enthusiastic about being up in the mountains. Their enthusiasm was energising! From Moel Winion, we crossed over the col to Gyrn and the down via Llfn. We could have carried on to climb a final peak called Moel Faban, but time was against us.

The sun got quite eery again in the afternoon, but no strange colours this time.

For a relatively short mountain circuit, you get some fantastic views. It was good to give my new Lowe Alpine pack a test out as well. It got points on the comfy and lightweight scale! Great day in the hills to be a Mountain Leader.
