Morning Surf - Afternoon Climb

Dawn patrol at the beach today! (Well almost) The chance of a few glassy waves and another blue sky morning was enough to get us up early for a 'pre-wake up' dip at Rhosneigr.

We had a few fun little waves. It was surprisingly cloudy first thing, but a brilliant way to start the day.

By 10:30 we were back on the mainland, energised, showered and ready to receive some distinguished guests for coffee at The Cottage Cafe.

The Cottage garden was a real sun trap, so we stayed for lunch and more chat, before spending a couple of hours climbing in the Ogwen Valley on Milestone Buttress, below Tryfan.

It was beautiful but super windy, which was making things feel a bit nippy as we climbed the super polished, classic route 'Super Direct.

I did the first pitch and then Clare had the harder second one, which balances up the Arête.

We found a handy abseil point on the big ledge at the top, so were soon back down and drove round to find the guys soaking up the sun under Pen yr Ole Wen.

On the way back home, we had an adventurous stop off to see the old bridge unger the A5. It's amazing that it's still standing and I certainly wouldn't recommend standing on it - unless you're very light!

There's no stopping some people though, once they get a whiff of adventure!

Having survived the bridge crossing, we made  our way back to the pad to calm our nerves, with fine foods, champagne with good company and even a little cheese and Port to finish! A holiday at home!
