Wherever Next?

I've been very lucky to have travelled to a great many exciting places. Climbing and mountaineering have provided me with many great excuses to travel to all sorts of destinations that otherwise would have remained either unknown or off limits to me. From the jungles of the Amazon, the plains of Africa and expanses of the Arctic, I have been fortunate indeed. The more one explores and sees, the more one notices how much more there is to view. The curiosity to see new places is rarely satisfied for long...
So what better way to spend a dull wet welsh day, than researching future expedition possibilities.

I already have two trips on the horizon before the summer. The destinations are confirmed, but the bulk of the planning and preparations are still works in progress. Maps, itinearies, peaks, equipment, weather, travel arrangements, food and money are just some of the multitude of factors involved with planning these trips. Despite having had plenty of practice in expedition planning, there still aren't many short-cuts. It all still involves time invested pouring over maps, a good wifi connection and access to a decent mug of coffee and some knowledageable friends. Feeling snug, by a roaring fire on a stormy day like this also helps too.

Rather unusually late for me, is the fact that nothing confirmed for July and August. If anyone's got any suggestions for something suitably adventurous this summer, please leave a note in the comments box - I'd love to hear from you!

Meanwhile, outside, all the snow from the weekend has now been washed away and the temperature in the garden is in double figures. We even have the first Snowdrops in flower...

And the daffodils seem to be ready for action! And it's still January!?....
