Hiking the Anglesey coastal path

I've been out on the coast today to benefit from the better weather! While the mountains stayed shrouded in mist, it's been a fine day on the east coast of Anglesey. I'm going to be hiking various sections of the coastal path with a group of students over the next month and today we started along the east coast near Treath Llugwy. After a short trip inland to look at a few mysterious old ruins, relics and burial chambers we set off.

It's a huge expanse of sand when the tide is out and gives a lovely sense of space. Out in the bay there were loads of big container ships all sheltering in the bay from the strong westerlies. We took advantage of the low tide to mix up the walk and got down onto the beach, and off the muddy cliff top path.

We finished off in the village of Moelfre, with a look around the new lifeboat station. They have a brand new boat now as some nice chap who had been rescued by them in the past, left two and a half million quid in his will for them! Just goes to show it pays to be nice and help people out!

Got back to The Cottage and kicked off my boots to find the fire roaring and coffee waiting...
