Buchaille Etive Beag

Minus three and a hard frost around the hut this morning in Glencoe. Clouds above the summits and virtually no wind again. Can't believe our luck!


We drove up to the top of the glen and at 9am, set off on an ascent of Buchaille Etive Beag in perfect winter conditions.


After the steep climb, from the col, we turned right along the ridge...


Where the views were simply splendid once again...


After our first summit (902m) we got our ice axes out and continued along to the ridge to the higher peak of Stob Dubh (958m) - see photo below:




At this time of year, the sun stays low in the sky. There was a beautiful light glistening from the mountain tops.


Brilliant views...


It was well below freezing up on the tops, but we stayed up there as long as we could, soaking it all up. Another quality day...
