Llyn Padarn Canoeing

After a really grim start, we ended up with a beautiful afternoon canoeing down on the lake. Heavy rain right from the word go this morning lasted until after lunch, accompanied by a strong northerly wind. Luckily I was working with a fairly 'robust' group who toughed out the harsh conditions (my hands were numb by midday!).

Around 2pm, the sun burst through the clouds and the wind completely died off, giving us a really amazing paddle across the lake. It was suddenly mirror calm, and the ripples on the 'oily' surface reflected the autumn colours on the water from the surrounding forests. What was even cooler was that an hour later, the wind returned, but this time from the south and helped dry us out and blow us back to base!
