Bodnant Gardens

Saw what is reputed to be the tallest tree in the UK today! A whopping 49m tall (but still less than half the size of the same species in the States!). I've been at Bodnant Gardens in the Conwy Valley, working on a 'John Muir Project' with some students. If you've never been, I'd totally recommend it. Some seriously forward thinking must have been employed by the owners a hundred of so years ago as they planted all kinds of species from around the world.

Long way up...

The Big guy! All 49m of it!

Not a bad weekend retreat

Down in the dell

Nuts!

After a morning at the gardens, we went up onto Conwy Mountain area for an introduction to navigation lesson, as part of an expedition training program. There was a nippy wind, but we managed to stay dry as we navigated from feature to feature. Got home before the storms arrived! Sounds like a hurricane is currently passing by The Cottage!
