SUP Surfing

A beach day! Drove out from the overcast mountain scenes at The Cottage and into an Anglesey blue sky! Things are starting to get a bit busier on the island, but we managed to find a beach to ourselves!

We've both had plenty of time on paddle boards over the past few years, but only on calm lakes and rivers. We found out today that it is indeed, considerably harder on a choppy sea with waves! The waves were nice and small though, so there was plenty of time to learn and I must have fall off a hundred times! We wore wetsuits today which helped us stay nice and warm - so warm we didn't get cold at all and only stopped because we were becoming exhausted! Although we got to experience the thrill of being picked up by a wave, our ration of buzz to effort was low!

Eventually we got out at mid afternoon, but it was so nice at the beach, I nipped up to the van and got us a blanket and a few treats, so we could enjoy the coastal vibe and a fresh brew too!

Relaxation time!

And our van companions, good old George Boyd and Howarth timber, are still going strong!

After a good rest, my wetsuit had dried out so we got back in. Clare braved it in a bikini and we rode one wave together, standing up on the same surfboard, before both falling in backwards!

A second beach brew was soon called for and we retuned to the blanket.

A fine day out and made even better by having friends over for dinner in the evening at The Cottage.
