On the road again! After a monster day driving through England, through the tunnel and onto Metz in France, we’d clocked 1024km of distance travelled!
We ate a good meal in a rest area before doing the last stretch in the dark and rain to get to our accommodation in Metz (a very cheap, hotel where we arrived at 23:00 and left again at 08:30 the next day!).
We had all the supplies to keep us fed and watered along the way at various stops.
Once into Germany, the traffic clogged up and things slowed down quite a lot.
But this afternoon we arrived in the Bavarian town of Kempton, which was wonderful.
Clare had found us a very nice hotel room and after a refreshing shower, we went out to enjoy the colourful, sunny town. It’s home to lots of buildings worth exploring and admiring and ice creams sell at only €1.50. Superb!
Once our legs got tired, we settled into a hanging basket of a chair and tried a local beer. The perfect antidote to a lot of hours spent in the car!
The town is on a beautiful river section..
For dinner, we used google translate. I didn’t dare try the ‘freshly shaved sparrow’ though!! Ha ha!
Delighted to be exploring somewhere new again. Hopefully tomorrow we will reach Austria!
