Tour Training

With only a matter of weeks to go until we depart on our next cycle touring expedition, we thought that we ought get back into the saddle and check we could still ride! The bikes were both back from a fresh service and never felt so smooth. No clunking of gears of squeaky brakes!

From Y Felinheli, we headed west along the Menai Straits along the traffic free cycle track.

And soon found ourselves in the harbour at Caernarfon.

As part of our expedition training, we thought we'd make things as realistic as possible, so stopped for an ice cream by the castle.

We ventured further west along the coast a bit, before finding an isolated bench to sit and watch the water. A massive kite flew over head, as well as a Heron.

Higher up in the sky we also noticed someone had been having a bit of a joyride!

On the journey back to the van, a buzzard swooped down out of the trees and glided in front of us for about 50m which was amazing. We checked out the beach at Felin and although it was hot enough for a swim, the low tide murky waters did not tempt us in. Just to keep the bird spotting theme, a goldfinch landed next to us as we sat on the beach.

Instead, we returned to the valley, where there were crystal clear waters awaiting us...

All in all, a rather excellent day of 'training'!
