Another blue sky morning in amongst the blossoming orchards as we strolled downhill from the apartment, to the base of todays chosen crag.
Once again, we had the place to ourselves, so there was no rush to get moving. There was a lovely morning coolness at the base of the crag and a distinct shift in temperature as we climbed upwards, into the sun.
The climbs were great and on fantastic, sharp limestone.
From the top of the cliff, there were great views of the local area. There is a little zoo, a bit further down the valley and every now and then we could hear the call of strange animals drifting up the rock face. All rather strange!
We climbed a bunch of starred route, before taking a break for lunch.
The base of the crag had been cleared recently and all sorts of abandoned farm stuff seemed to have been uncovered, but in among the olive trees, I found an old cafe chair that was just about willing to take my weight! Perfect for a lunch time rest.
More climbs followed in the afternoon, with an increase in difficulty. The recent sessions in the indoor walls back in Wales seem to be paying off as despite the alarmingly steep nature of the crags, we were able to hang on long enough to reach the chains at the top!
Although sometimes, it was a close run thing!
As Clare was climbing, a lizard darted out of a tiny crevice. Inside, we noticed a handful of tiny Geko eggs!
There was also a cave entrance on another climb.
You could get right inside and could have walked up inside the cliff to the daylight 10m higher up!
We decided to stay of the sunny side though!
Later in the afternoon, we returned to the village, which by now, was bustling with tourist. Our apartment and car, were a few steps higher up, where the village seemed deserted again. We had a snack and took in the view again, before packing the car and heading off towards the coast and our next destination...
We arrived at the base of our new home in what feels like the Ghost Town of Gandia. We are staying on the 11th floor of this building and seem to be the only residents! Thankfully there is a lift!
The view from the balcony is amazing, with distant mountains in one direction and the glistening sea in the other!
Took a walk along the sea front at dusk, which was really nice - someone has even raked the sand flat and clean! I think we'll be okay here for a few days!
