We went on a bit of a hunt today to explore a bit of the Anglesey Coastal path that we'd never walked and search for the remains of a shipwreck. The weather in the mountains has been pretty damp, but a weather window looked open over a small section of the Anglesey coast. It was a bit of a gamble, but it paid off with glorious sunshine and a deserted coast to explore! It felt like a holiday!
Actually, there were a few others out walking on the beach....
We followed the coastal path north of Moelfre (really muddy!), to begin with, but as the tide was low, we made much better progress by walking on the beach. We eventually came across the wreck of the ship that I'd been told about, in the sheltered inlet and were able to walk out almost to it. A shallow channel of water blocked the last hundred metres. It was 'wadeable', but neither of us fancied taking our boots off! So instead, we circled back around to the beach.
The weather really was a million miles from the dark and damp morning that we'd left at The Cottage.
It was also great to see some new views and scenery. The footpath was actually quite well marked, if seldom travelled.
As we walked along the waters edge back to Treath Llugwy, the low sun was reflecting a beautiful light on the sand.
The ripples left in the sand looked like miniature mountains - complete with contour lines!
And not dissimilar to the view of Clew Bay we had in Ireland back in August. All rather lovely.
