Back on the Bikes

It was good to be out and about under some peddle power again. The clouds stayed high, the air remained dry and most importantly there was not a breath of wind. Yes, it could have been the perfect conditions for canoeing or paddleboarding, but these things are tricky to do under current restrictions. However, biking has not been outlawed yet, so we wrapped up warm and set off on an exploration.

After a steep start to get up and over the hill, we glided through the tunnels towards Llanberis.

When we reached the far end, we were greeted with this view of a mirror lake reflection. Stunning.

We followed the lakeshore, stopping every now and then to take a photo of the view with the Llanberis Pass and Snowdon in the distance.

The sun was doing it's best to break up the clouds and the water was crystal clear and ripple-less.

Until we had a stone skimming contest, which Clare won with a fabulous throw, which went well into double figures. Even Dad's previously untouchable title may have been toppled at the jaw-dropping performance! (See my Facebook post to watch the video!)

We visited the castle after Clare admitted that she'd never actually been up to it before, then continued on to have a bit of food and drink at the far end of the lake which was also quiet as the car parks have been locked.

As we rode back through the village High Street and were delighted to find that our friend at Rumdoodle's was open for takeaway coffee! (you can check out his wacky store by clicking here). It was lovely to see a friendly face and even have a chat with some other climbing friends who also happened to be passing by. Feeling refreshed, we set our sights on home and the big climb back over the hill.

Although we had to stop at the end of the lake for one more bit of view appreciation.

It was heads down from then on, as all concentration was spent on breathing and turning the wheels. Then when we reached the watershed, we whooped with delight as we free-wheeled all the way home!

Total Ride 32Km. A fabulous holiday day and all from the front door....
