Canoeing on Llyn Gerionydd

Having still found to clarity on the rues regarding the local lockdown restrictions, we decided to stay 'in-county' today for our canoe trip. The high lake of Llyn Gerionydd, wouldn't have been my number once choice, but given the geographic restrictions, it seemed like the best option.

The group did really well, powering up into the face of a stiff northerly breeze, without much in the way of a warm-up. The skies were super dark, but incredibly, the rain held off, making the challenge much more pleasant.

I was surprised and delighted to find that we could do a full navigation of the lake, stopping at various sheltered spots to work on technique and expedition skills. We managed to cover most of my lesson plan, but gave trying to cook on a fire a miss, due to time constraints. The return journey with the wind at our backs was pretty exciting and we left a good wake behind us!

Meetings and preparations for the weekend, meant a late return to The Cottage, but I did get a nice sunset on the way to purchasing supplies for tomorrow's expedition.
