The North Wales 'home-based' cycle touring expedition continued with another new ride today. There have been some amazing wispy cirrus clouds in the sky all day, but the conditions seem set still and the sun continues to shine. There was actually a light frost here this morning, so I worked indoors to begin with, until later in the morning, when I resumed residence at the outdoor office table.
Our afternoon ride took us westwards on more quiet lanes between the Menai Straits and the mountains. Using the local OS Map, we can see which lanes avoid the residential areas. There were more cars about today than recent weeks, but also a lot of cyclists too.
The views across towards Snowdon were spectacular and uninterrupted. Before making the homeward journey, we stopped on a bridge for a drink. There was a Dipper in the river, who flew off shortly after our arrival, but a Grey Wagtail (they have a yellow breast, so not sure why they are called Grey), stayed as long as we did, bobing on a rock in the shallow rapids.
A Buzzard also flew overhead before we set off. It was a very nice, unplanned place to take a moment to stop.
By travelling across and above the coast, we encountered much less in the way of hills too, which was a bonus!
