Better Belaying - Skills Training

A very productive staff training evening looking at some of the latest innovations and inventions in the climbing world. Between us, we had a highly skilled and experienced body of knowledge to share ideas between and I'd also invited a fellow MIC, who talked us through the pros and cons of Edlrid's new product called the OHM. After looking and testing some of the new belay devices on the ground, we put them into practice up in the air.

The different devices all work better in certain ways, so I spent a good deal of time flying through the air waiting to be caught by the staff testing the belay devices! Something that is not usually part of my days climbing (I tend not to fall off unless absolutely necessary!). It was good to keep up to date and make sure that we are all demonstrating the current best practices in the complex art of safe belaying.
