We’re currently nowhere near the Alps, but after eight consecutive days of cycle touring the rest day premise still stands, despite the lack of skis and/or mountains. It’s been a blissful day out of the saddle, mostly spent here in our idyllic garden camp.
Having given ourselves a good wash last night, we took the opportunity today to give the few clothes that we have with us a good wash through as well. My socks were becoming stiff.
As well as making sure that we were suitably fed and watered, Clare also gave her bike a bit of love to ensure that it continued to be (quite literally) a well oiled machine.
As recommended in the guidelines for a successful ‘ARD’, we also took some gentle exercise, in the form of a short stroll to the nearby beach. It’s been overcast all day, but really hot. We decided against a swim as the clouds were starting to look threatening. The sky was black when we got back from the beach and no sooner had we packed our gear away, the rains began pouring...
