Ski Optimism in North Wales

Got back from Scotland last night. There’s been a good bit of winter around here too this week, so we optimistically decided to see if there was enough snow left up for a quick ski...

Despite initial excitement, we ended up taking the skis for a walk up into Cwm Lloer and back!

There was quite a lot of snow about, but nothing worth skiing. It was too patchy and way to wet. We met some friends who were descending from the summits, having climbed broad gully. They said the tops had an icy breakable crust, so we decided to call it a day and return to the valley for coffee and cake by the fireside! At least we’d enjoyed a good walk and the light on the mountains looked great as we walked down opposite Tryfan. Sometimes things don’t quite work out, but if you never look, you’ll never know...
