Sunshine and Surf

Today was scheduled in as a day of resting, sorting and re-packing as the week ahead is looking particularly manic - even by my standards - with more travel and fun on the horizon. By lunch time, I felt like I was resting, but there was a major feeling of productivity lassitude at The Cottage. Just as we were trying to get psyched up, we got a text from friends who were visiting from Devon and on their way to the beach on Anglesey. I'd not even looked at the weather or forecasts as I was trying to stay focused on the jobs at The Cottage. However, blue skies, light winds and good surf gave us cause to re-assess, and re-energise!

We dropped what we were doing, pulled my South Wales debris from the van and replaced it with our wetsuits and got going. A quick van change and we were ready to go!

Clare, in particular, was keen to try out her new wetsuit...

Our friends were a few minutes ahead of us, but we caught them up on the beach. It was a stunning day and a great place for a catch up!

And everyone got loads of waves! It was perfect conditions where it was easy to paddle out and then easy to pick up nice long rides, with a breather in between.

Having left The Cottage, feeling exhausted and tired, after a few hours, we came back feeling totally alive, refreshed and energised - buzzing from the sunshine and surf. How lucky we are to be able to do that, from home, with such little planning or preparation. The Cottage really is a great basecamp! Back to the packing now - more adventures await!
