Noosa - the last wave of the trip

From here on north, there is either no surf and/or crocodiles in the water! Sadly, that meant that today was the last chance to catch a wave. There are several brilliant beaches around Noosa to choose from, but there wasn't much swell rolling in today. Noosa Main beach looked like our best option to give 'Mr Penumbra' his last bit of flower power action!

The sun was out and there was just enough surf for us both to catch some good little rides - our last Australian waves! And being mid week, we pretty much had the place to ourselves.

Once again, showers and a brew at the van were a great finish to the surfing section of the trip, before heading into town.

The price of posting my surfboard back to Wales was proving too much to be worth while, so we called into a couple of surf shops to see if I could sell it instead. After a few knock backs and low offers, we found a guy who was happy to part with almost as much as it had cost me back in Sydney. I'd got a good deal, so with a wad of cash in my pocket, we took a stroll down 'Hasting Street' - the main boulevard and treated ourselves to coffee and ice creams. It was sad to hand Mr Penumbra over, but hopefully he'll give someone else as much fun as he did  me.

We just about had time later in the afternoon to walk around to Tea Tree Bay, which is a 15 minute walk around the headland from Noosa town. On a good day, there is an amazing point break here, which we'd love to surf, but there had not been enough swell to get it working today. We watched a few surfers trying, but with little results.

It is a magical place though as there is no sign of the nearby town. There is no development allowed at all and behind the beach is protected native forest. But they've been good enough to put a nice concrete path in for the bare footed surfers!

We stayed to enjoy the glow of the sunset...

Then made it back through the spooky forest as the sun set...

To round off our 'mini holiday' in Noosa, we went straight into town for more 'Ozzy BBQ Burger' action, but this time on the Main Street and with delicious sweet potato chips, while watching the 100m final at the Olympics!
