Climbing at Baume Rousse - Provence

Back on the rock today above the little town Buis-les-Baronnes.

But not before a very leisurely start involving a morning strolling through the town on Market Day! Audrey (our host at the ranch), gave us the tip off, so we decided to go and check it out. The whole town was pedestrianised for the event (which happens every Wednesday).  There was all kinds of produce, from fresh cheese and olive oil, to crafts and the obligatory knock-off sunglasses. It was well past midday when we eventually set off in search of the crags!

We chose to climb at Baume Rosse as it involved a short drive, short walk-in and some classic slabs climbs that wouldn't involve too many strenuous moves! We got all that we came for.

The views weren't bad either...

After enjoying a few great routes and a bit of a sunny snooze at the base, we decide to head back to the ranch to continue the mellow vibe that the day had taken by going for some sunset champagne...

Later, once it was properly dark, the star gazing was fantastic. Adrian (ranch owner) showed us Jupiter through his mega-telescope and we could see the lines on the planet as well as all its moons! Clare even saw a shooting star through the lens. Magic.
