The Sunday Surfers

Glassy waves and not a breath of wind brought out the surfers of north wales in flocks! Don't think I've ever seen the beach so busy! At one point, I counted 75 surfers in the water and many more on the beach taking photos and spectating!

I was actually teaching a few students to surf today, so was able to enjoy the slightly smaller waves off to the side of the crowded main break. It's a great activity to be able to introduce people to - the look on their faces after having got picked up and felt the acceleration of an incoming wave is great. Surprise, exhilaration and joy all blended into one - along with an instant desire to get back out and do it all again! We sure had a lot of fun and everyone got some good rides. It was perfect conditions to be learning in. And warm too!

Having said that, after over two hours of instructing and jumping about in the waves, my hands were pretty cold (and the students were shivering!), so we took ourselves off to the welcoming warmth of Mojo's crepe shop for an obligatory re-fuel!

Days like today just remind us what a great part of the world this is to live and work in!
