Woke up to an absolute shocker of a morning! Trees were getting bent over in the winds and rain was pelting down! Not ideal conditions for a walk around Cwm Idwal, but hey ho! Having had such a peaceful evening, the difference in weather was barely believable!
After getting a soaking and literally stopped in my tracks by the wind a few times, I made it back to The Cottage unscathed in time for lunch.
The sun might have disappeared for a while, but the incoming low pressure has at least brought some waves! The sea has been flat calm now for two weeks, but today it was anything but. We checked a few beaches, before finding a suitably sheltered one. Even then, there was still a certain amount of psyching up to do before leaving the warmth of the van!
As it turned out, we both had a great session and caught some really good waves. The bay we were in was just sheltered from the southerly gale, so we got to ride some pretty clean right handers - my favourite. There's nothing quite like trailing your back hand in the green water of a breaking wave, while zooming along it!
The rest of the day has been taken up with maps and guidebooks by the fireside as we've started thinking about a few future trips...
