Climbing on Tryfan Bach

It's only a few minutes to drive from The Cottage into the scenic Ogwen valley. Parking up below Tryfan, having only just left the house, made us feel particularly grateful that we are able to live where we do.

Up at slabs of Tryfan Bach (Little Tryfan), we climbed a few routes and were able to savour the feel of being in the mountains, while only having walked ten minutes from the car!

It's probably quicker to walk down than abseil from the top, but we wanted to check that our new 'skinny' ropes weren't too skinny to abseil with. (They are fine).

Although they did create a few tangly twists on the way down!

Climbing in hats and multiple jackets really shouldn't be necessary in mid May! The wind had been unbelievably strong today - much more than forecast. Earlier on I was instructing a group of climbers at Penmaenbach Quarry and had to abandon the session early as the belayers couldn't stand up in the gale! Although it was sunny, the wind chill has been significant! Come on summer!
