An Alpine Arrival

A healthy dose of good luck and associated 'can do' attitude has finally landed us somewhere near to where we hoped to be at last! A solid sleep and a hearty breakfast in the very cool studio at Macon, set us up well for the final stretch of driving.

The entire day was spent in thick mist as we navigated towards the alps. A temperature inversion is keeping the valleys filled with dense freezing fog, which made for tricky driving conditions.

As we slowly began to gain height, the scenery got colder, but the promise of breaking out above the clouds loomed large with every turn we took.

Finally, we arrived in the small alpine village of Chatel. After a final tense few moments where no one could find any record of our last minute booking at the hotel reception, we were at last given the keys to our room. We'd made it!

There was just enough daylight left for a walk through the town centre, having parked the car in an underground car park.

It's not super busy here!

But fine food and drinks were provided and it was a welcome relief to be stopped in one place finally! Alpine adventures await....
