The Birthday Expedition - Day 1

It's very busy week, that's finished off with a birthday at the end! We were due to be in Italy at a friend's wedding this weekend, but the complexity of travel with changing restrictions left us home in Wales. However, Clare organised a whirlwind of a birthday expedition where we have packed in a huge amount of fun into just a few days.

I was down to take a group of students on a paddleboarding experience during the day, so after a birthday breakfast of poached eggs on muffins and a couple of birthday cards, I was out of the door and into a calm but overcast day.

The water was lovely and warm and we had great fun crossing though the Beatrice Gap by Plas y Brenin as well as the small rapid section where the lake joins the river.

Back home that evening, there was just time for some birthday cake before getting into the 'pre-loaded' van and crossing over onto Anglesey.

The sun was low when we arrived at Treaddur Bay, but there was still warmth in the air as the sun made a final appearance.

There was just time for the official birthday swim, before checking into the hotel by the sea, for a warming hot shower.

Clare had worked her magic at reception and we received a free upgrade to a suite at the top of the hotel! Time for more pressies, cards and a drink before sauntering downstairs for dinner.

As we sat having a drink in the window seat, the sunset made the whole town glow orange! All very luxurious!...
