A bike exploration to Treath Penrhos

A scan of the weather charts showed that there would be some blue skies over on Anglesey - so that's where we headed for the day.

It's the first time we been out on the bikes for a while and having found a new trail to explore, it felt like we were off on a holiday as we set off south from Malltreath.

The Newbrough forest plantation is a big area that is littered with tracks and trails, but most of them aren't really suitable for my bike. However, we picked a lovely circuit that stayed on the bigger tracks (for most of the day!).

On reaching the sand dunes at Treath Penrhos, we left the bikes and set out on foot down to the beach.

A wooden create had been washed up on the beach, providing a perfect bench where we could sit and enjoy a picnic while surveying the empty expanse around us.

Llandwen Island was over to our left and we could see a few walkers there, but otherwise, the beach was ours.

After lunch we walked along the reflections were the tide reached the beach.

Then set off back towards the van, choosing a circular route.

Which turned out to be a bit narrow and sandy and required a little bit of pushing, but not enough to be a big problem. It actually made it feel a little more adventurous if anything!

We got back to the causeway as the sun was beginning to dip - which was actually only three o'clock in the afternoon!

A handy bench provided a great viewing area to soak up the sunset from while finishing the warm drinks from our flasks. Ace.
